Elene Metreveli, a multidisciplinary artist, challenges the notion that creativity stems solely from pain. Vibrant, sociable, and deeply connected to the world around her, she draws inspiration from her surroundings and inner experiences.
Born in Tbilisi in 1988, Metreveli’'s formative years were shaped by Georgia's transition from the Soviet Union. At the age of 15, she made her mark as the youngest applicant ever accepted into the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute. Immersed in a diverse artistic milieu, Metreveli explored various mediums and styles, refusing to be bound by academic conventions. Her collaborations with global fashion brands, personal exhibitions, and spatial design projects reflect her multifaceted approach to art. In 2018, Metreveli faced a new challenge as health issues threatened her vision. Diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma, she embraced this adversity as an opportunity for reinvention.
As her vision faded, Metreveli found solace in her intuition, allowing her senses to guide her artistic expression. Each brushstroke became a testament to resilience, celebrating life's imperfections and fleeting beauty. Elene Metreveli’'s art embodies a fusion of experience and innocence, blending the wisdom of a seasoned artist with the curiosity of a child exploring the world anew. Through her work, she invites viewers to transcend the limitations of sight and embrace the boundless possibilities of the human spirit.
