RETNA Joins AKNEYE with Two Striking AKNs

The globally renowned artist RETNA, celebrated for his unique calligraphic style and contributions to both contemporary art and street culture, has officially joined the AKNEYE movement—leaving his mark on two distinct AKNs that echo his deep engagement with language, symbolism and cultural identity.

Known for blending global calligraphy traditions—from Arabic and Hebrew to Egyptian and Roman—RETNA has developed a script that turns written form into visual art. His expressive lines, often compared to modern hieroglyphs, explore identity, emotion and connection through abstract markings. Now, RETNA’s unmistakable style has found a new dimension through AKNEYE.

His first piece, titled “Golden Eye”, transforms the AKN into a canvas of layered meaning. The artwork carries his well-known script across its surface, capturing with its movement and rhythm. RETNA’s style, often created while listening to music, invites viewers to see beyond the surface. This piece is more than just an object; it becomes part of a larger story told through symbols and sound.

The second work, “Armenian Eye”, presents a bolder and more personal direction. Using the vivid tones of the Armenian flag—red, blue and orange—RETNA infuses the AKN with cultural weight. His script flows over the form like a sacred text, reflecting both homage and interpretation. Here identity becomes global and intimate at once, honoring heritage through abstraction.

As AKNEYE evolves into a global phygital journey, the presence of RETNA signals a powerful combination of street language and fine art—a step deeper into a world where every eye has a story to tell.
